So you've decided you want to be a professor! Excellent, you're about to join the ranks of some of the most awesome people ever to walk the Earth. (No, I'm not kidding). Before we begin, though, there is one important question that you must answer truthfully. Do you honestly have the free time it takes to be a Hogwarts professor? Before you answer yes, really think about this. I've seen many professors lose their jobs because they just didn't have the time to balance their real life with being on Hogwarts Online. Take a look at the professor handbook. It says (at a minimum) that you need to be on at least an hour a day, 3 times a week. Do you have that kind of time, or will practice, work, or your family need that? If you think you can't balance both, you should seriously consider dropping this course now, as it will just end up being a waste of your time. Moving on, the first, and probably hardest, step is deciding which department you want to teach in. At Hogwarts, there are 10+ departments, so you've definitely got a lot to choose from. The first step is figuring out what Hogwarts subject you like best. Or, if you're having a hard time choosing, think about which subject your character likes best. For example, I find the subjects of charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, and Astronomy interesting. However, when I created the character of Stella Travers, she was someone who was really good in Astronomy, so that's how I ended up picking the Astronomy department. Take a few minutes and think this over and when you've reached your decision, write it down somewhere. After you've considered this, take a look at the classes in the department you've decided on. What kinds of topics do the classes cover? Can you offer anything to the department that isn't already there? |
